Development Background

SI(Signal Integrity), EMI and PI(Power Integrity) are the main source of electrical
problems. We did not worry about PI problems because the method is very simple
to avoid.Just place capacitors around the critical IC. Problems occurred because we were only placing capacitors around IC that we guessed might generate
voltage fluctuation (aggressor IC).

However, during the technology development, products were minimized and
therefore we needed to consider where and how many capacitors we had to place
in the appropriate position.

In fact, we faced many difficulties caused by PI during product development and
tried to use a PI simulator.PI simulator was a very efficient tool, however, we had
to learn its operation and key-in lots of information. We found that if we had a pre-use simulator like EMIStream, it would be perfect!

We launched the PIStream project with engineers and researchers in at NEC and collaborated with universities and IC venders.
